Labour and Employment
At the heart of any business lies its workforce. At JPLP, our team is alive to the importance, to any successful business, of proper management of employment relations. Ensuring compliance and effective management of labour-related issues in a highly regulated and complex environment is critically important for your business, your people and your reputation.
JPLP team is highly experienced in a range of employment law matters. We have represented different stakeholders from employees to employers, directors, trade unions, bargaining councils and employee benefit schemes. Our senior lawyers have extensive experience in handling complex organisational restructuring processes and amicably separating senior executives, where necessary.
We advise on all employment law-related matters, covering individual and collective employment law, employee benefits (including incentive schemes, pension fund and medical aid benefits) and occupational health and safety law. Additionally, we advise on contentious (dispute related) and non-contentious (compliance, transactional and commercial advisory related) matters across all of these areas.
Our lawyers also assist clients to understand labour regulations, and ensure that they are abiding by all relevant labour laws. We also draft and review employment contracts to ensure that clients are protected in the case of a potential employment dispute.
We work with organisations to determine what policies and procedures need to be put in place for employees as well as drafting employee handbooks to support these policies. We also assist clients who are involved in legal disputes, from unfair dismissal and discrimination claims to reputational whistleblowing. Our clients are kept up to date on all significant changes and developments to the law.
